My Breakthrough Moment

In 2009, I experienced a monumental breakthrough. 
It didn’t happen on a retreat. It didn’t happen while meditating. 

It happened in a classroom, right in the middle of an exercise about communication across differences and diversity. 

During the exercise, pairs of individuals from diverse cultures were asked to connect without using words. It was in that moment, I realised something profound: 
When we rely solely on words to communicate, we risk missing the point of communication entirely. Real connection, the kind that builds trust, understanding, and change, happens at heart level. 

It’s the connection between your heart and their heart. 

Until that session, I had never felt or understood so deeply how leadership for inclusion happens far more profoundly than a mission statement. That realisation reshaped the way I approach leadership, inclusion, and equity.  

I knew I had to share this insight with others, so for over 10 years I set about developing a framework and tool to help people see why this approach changes everything when it comes to discrimination and human connection. 

Who I Am

I’m Nesta Williams – People and Culture Strategist, Organisational Development Consultant, and creator of the H.E.A.R.T.S to HEARTS leadership model. 

For over 20 years, I’ve worked across public and private sectors—helping leaders and teams move beyond performative gestures toward real, measurable, and lasting cultural change. From the frontline to the boardroom, I’ve designed and led transformational programmes that strengthen performance, embed equity, and inspire trust. 

I didn’t step into this work because it was fashionable I stepped in because I could no longer ignore the patterns of discriminatory practice I witnessed.

My Why

I believe workplace culture has the power to either elevate or erode human potential. 
When people feel safe, they don’t just stay, they grow, innovate, and lead. 

That’s why I developed this training to equip leaders with the tools, language, and confidence to address cultural blind spots, build accountability, and create environments where high performance meets high humanity. 

My Experience

  • Leadership Advisory – Guided senior leaders through systemic reform in complex, high-stakes environments. 

I am also a Certified Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Facilitator and hold a Master’s in Leading Public & Private Sector Change—bringing both academic expertise and lived experience to every conversation.
